FAQ
We have worked really hard to deliver a high-quality product at a reasonable price point. But as you can probably imagine, the Thalia Capo costs a lot more to manufacture than most capos. We plan to sell our Exotic Wood Series capos at retail for US$50 and our Abalone Series for US$60. However, during our Kickstarter Campaign, we plan to offer a big discounts to our early supporters. So please support our Kickstarter campaign! Click here to preorder now!
We are gearing up to go into production. Development is done, the single-cavity molds are finished and we are getting ready to go into our first phase of low-volume production. We expect to begin shipping our Kickstarter orders in November 2014 and hope to begin selling in US retail in Spring/Summer of 2015. So if you want to get one soon, please support our Kickstarter campaign!
The Thalia Capo will have a 3-year limited warranty. That said, we want to make you happy. Even if you fall outside of that window, send us an email at support@thaliacapos.com and we will figure out someway to make you happy.
We think you will love your Thalia Capo. However, we know that sometimes stuff happens and you may need to return your order. For orders through thaliacapos.com, we can accept returns within 30 days of the ship date. If the product arrives damaged or defective, we'll cover the shipping costs. Please email us at support@thaliacapos.com to initiate a return.
When it comes to product development we have been through it many times and understand that things frequently go wrong and that timelines are often pressed during manufacturing ramp up. This is why we spent the past year fine tuning our first set of tools. A bunch of stuff went wrong and it took us a lot longer to work out all of the issues than we had hoped. But the good news is that we were successful and we are now confident that we have a set of tools capable of fulfilling all of our initial Kickstarter orders. The money that comes from these initial orders will fund the creation of a new set of multi-cavity tools so that we can ultimately lower our costs as we prepare for a broader rollout. So the short answer is that we are ready to begin low volume production now and are very confident that we can meet our delivery dates in November/December.
We tested more than 20 different materials for the fret and neck pads. Traditional capos use rubber or silicone and we tested those materials but found a much richer sound with a slightly harder and more slippery material. We also added some Teflon to the material to make it silky smooth when sliding around the neck. The result is an amazing sound and action that we know you will love.
Currently, the Thalia Capo is only designed to work on 6-string guitars. We do have plans in place for developing a 12-string version, as well as versions for other instruments. If you have suggestions please email us at support@thaliacapos.com.
We tried really hard to manufacture the Thalia Capo in the USA but were not able to even come close to a price that would work. So we made a compromise. We will do partial assembly in China and then final assembly in the USA. This approach ensures that we will personally touch every capo before it reaches the hands of our customer. Our team here in California proudly sources, fabricates and assembles all of inlays into the capos while completing final inspection and test. We feel that this unique supply chain model will be a critical component in building a quality brand that you can love and trust.
